Iowa State University Library continues its multi-layered commitment to promoting sustainability awareness by exhibiting David Williamson’s “Riverse” — sculptures with a steampunk vibe crafted from reclaimed river trash.  The trash is from Project AWARE, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ annual volunteer river cleanup, which is one of many local environmental sustainability projects supported by Iowa State University.

In a 2006 issue of Iowa Arts News, Williamson said his career has been “dedicated not to the process of making public art but to making the process of art public.”  Riverse represents Williamson’s ongoing artistic collaboration with Project AWARE.  If you’re unable to stop by Parks Library to view the sculptures on display this month, visit the Riverse Flickr gallery.

Sculptor David Williamson will give a talk about Riverse at Parks Library (Rm 192) on March 25 from 3:15-4:15  pm, and will be available for discussion until 5:30 pm.
