The ISU Library will be closed on Monday, January 17,  in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  Visit the 2011 MLK Jr. Holiday Schedule to find out about ISU programming throughout January celebrating the man and his legacy.

If you’re not in Ames (or snowed-in, which is always a risk in Iowa these days…) check out current projects at Stanford University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Education and Research Institute, or visit NPR’s collection of audio clips honoring The Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Visit the Internet Archives’ Community Audio site to listen to an audio recording of the famous “I Have A Dream” speech, which Dr. King gave from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the Civil Rights rally on August 28, 1963.

However you choose to observe this meaningful day, there are abundant archival resources available — both online and at your local library, whether academic or public — to enrich your civic experience.
