There’s just over one week left to register for the Edible Book Festival at Iowa State University Library! This design competition celebrating “the ingestion of culture” will take place on April 1, 2011, from 11 am to 2 pm in the Bookends Reading Room (NE corner of Parks Library, 1st Floor). The deadline to register an entry is March 26. The competition and viewing are both open to the public.
Not interested in competing? Stop by to view the entries and vote for your favorites. Free mini-cupcakes and cookies will be available (while they last) for everyone who stops by to see the show. Everyone who votes will also have the chance to win a door prize.
Prizes and snacks have been donated by local businesses, including:
- Borders Bookstore
- Cafe Diem
- Chocolaterie Stam
- Cupcake Emporium
- Dutch Oven Bakery
- Hickory Park
The public will vote for favorites in three categories: Best In Show, Wittiest, and Best Book Structure. The Critics’ Choice Award will be selected by our panel of guest judges representing design, food, and the library:
- Paula Curran, Assoc. Professor in Art & Design
- John Kramer, Lab Instructor at the Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom
- Diana Shonrock, Professor and Subject Librarian, Iowa State University Library
We look forward to seeing you on April 1st!
