Another interesting challenge has arrived at the lab.

As the subtitle says, the book features removable facsimile documents of historic importance.  There are twenty removable items in four different pockets spread throughout the book.  Some of these items are single sheets, some are folded, and some are pamphlets.

I thought the card on the 1908 Olympic Games was pretty interesting.  You could purchase a serial ticket for the entire Games from one pound ten shillings which according to my web search is equivalent to somewhere between 180 and 220 pounds today.  One evening at the track and field stadium in 2012 will cost between 50 and 450 pounds.

As you can see from the following photo the book was designed to provide space for the enclosures.

This is a General Collections item, so patrons will be allowed to check it out of the library.  Our goal is to make sure that all the facsimiles make it back.  We have considered a variety of solutions and aren’t particularly happy with any of them. We were wondering if any of you had a good solution.
